An Altercation

Tonight I went to a large liquor store to buy a gift for Joe Holcomb's birthday. By suggestion of a friend, I decided to go to a storefront called "Vendome".

"Vendome" reminded me of summertime at home. A warm, semi-humid day. The inside was air conditioned and the smell and feel of the place was like a large liquor store one might see in Massachusetts Suburbia.

At "Vendome", I was looking for a good craft brew for Joe and my choice was pretty solid. I went to the register and the dude scanned this person before me who had decided to get his beer based solely on his budgetary-yet-fashionably-a-beer-aficionado personality. Because of this, he thought his beer was 9.99 when it was really 10.99 on the receipt. The store's reasoning was pretty solid in that the beer he had chosen was originally even more than the other beers that qualified for the 9.99 discount that 10.99 was a discount in itself. The man stormed off saying, "Not cool, man. Not cool."

The cashier that rang me out dealt with this man and whispered under his breath, "It's like that saying, 'Half of the people can be part right all of the time, some of the people can be all right part of the time, but all of the people can't be all right all of the time.'" to which I responded, "I think Abraham Lincoln said that." He laughed, "You know your history" "I know my Bob Dylan," I said that.
